Can I sort the list in a way other than Smart Sorting?

Yes, you can — but Smart Sorting is deliberately the default because it adapts to your real path through the store and does the sorting for you. If you like, in an open list you can go to „⋯“ at the top right → „List settings“ → „Sorting“ and choose „Item name (alphabetically)“ or „Creation date“ instead; these order things in a fixed way and never reorder automatically.

Keep in mind what you lose then: the learned aisle order and the automatic promotion of your current store — exactly what makes pon special. If you only want to pin a single position, it's almost always better to press and hold the item, drag it to its spot, and leave Smart Sorting on.
